USAPA standard requires the sum of length and width cannot exceed 24 inches:

Step 2: Select Material
- Fiberglass - common for beginners but with limited rebound and rotation strength
- Carbon fiber with thermoforming - preferred by advanced players for superior resilience, friction, and durability
- Custom core-to-surface structures - for professional players requiring specific strength and control
Honeycomb core aperture size affects elasticity and sweet zone. Surface materials include glass fiber, carbon fiber (T300, T700, T800, T1000, 3K, 12K, 18K), and Kevlar.
Step 3: Pre-Type Process
The hot forming process involves manually injecting foam into carbon fiber and wrapping it 360 degrees to enhance sealing, rebound strength, and expand the sweet zone.
Step 4: Thermoforming
Pre-formed honeycomb core and carbon plate are placed in an aluminum mold and preheated for 25 minutes. The carbon fiber is hot pressed at approximately 130°C to create a 360-degree integrated rough embryo.
Step 5: Printing Patterns
Patterns are typically printed using UV technology. Laser engraved patterns may damage the paddle surface, while larger area patterns use particle paint spray to preserve surface friction.
